Conservation Corps Has a New Chairperson
Conservation Corps founder and longstanding chairperson Jane Hampson is passing the leadership baton to Betsy Kiker beginning in January. Betsy has been active in the club and has assisted with its leadership since the club’s inception in 2008. Betsy has been a resident of Kingston Chase for well over two decades and was responsible for starting the Playgroup, Babysitting Co-op, and Book Club. Betsy is an enthusiastic supporter of environmental causes and is also eager to bring neighbors together regardless of their level of commitment to eco-friendly living. Stay tuned to see what exciting new directions are in store for the Conservation Corps.
A very, very special “thank you” to Jane Hampson who in 2008 started the Kingston Chase Conservation Corps and was wholly instrumental in getting the fledgling club launched. Over the years, Jane accomplished so much, including apply- ing for (and receiving) a county grant to start the pollinators' garden (aka the Butterfly Garden), organizing many groups of volunteers, purchasing and encouraging the purchase of rain barrels, creatively involving the neighborhood’s youngsters, starting the photo contest with fellow member Jim Palmer to help the neighbors attune themselves to all the nature right here in front of us, starting the book exchange to conserve trees, and organizing many Earth Day celebrations.
These are just a small sample of the work that Jane has done in the last eight years to make Kingston Chase a greener, nicer, and more beautiful place to live. The Conservation Corps is a cohesive group of friends and neighbors, and it was built on the foundation that Jane envisioned. Please join the club when it resumes meeting in January 2017 at the Kingston Chase clubhouse.
